Facings or Veneers
A veneer or facing is a thin piece of porcelain used to re-create the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel. They are custom made to the contour of your teeth and are bonded to the tooth's original enamel during a series of in-office procedures. With only an ultra-thin porcelain "shield", your teeth can get a completely new look in color and shape.
When facings?
If your new smile can not be achieved through orthodontic treatment or by bleaching, facings are a beautiful and lasting solution. Facings are ideally applicable to discolored teeth, sloping fringe teeth, splits between teeth or too small teeth. They are made in porcelain or in high-grade laser-sintered composite.
Discoloration of composite facings may occur in smokers.
